.:What a Shame to Have to Beg You to See that We’re Not All the Same:.

I think tonight is going to be a chill night.  It’s been a long time since I’ve had an actual weekend off, and I don’t really have anything to do tonight.  I just put the honey mustard glazed chicken in the oven, and man does it smell delicious already.  It won’t be done until about 7:00.  I’m already hungry.

Today was a decent day.  Work didn’t drag on like it normally does.  I actually had a conversation with the “Rob” from my previous entry.  It was nice to talk to him again.  I think we’re going to be okay.

Tomorrow I am going to visit Miss Lizzy and Ali-gator at U of I.  We’re gonna party, I’m gonna stay there until Sunday afternoon… should be a good time.  I hope I’ll be back in time for game on Sunday, but I think we’re getting kicked out relatively early.

Anyway, enough about me.  I’m ready to post the song of the week.  Last week I promised Daveface I’d post this Shinedown song so he could hear it.  I think it’s a fabulous song, and so far I think it’s the best one they’ve written.  This is “What a Shame”…

Song of the Week

Two packs of cigarettes a day
The strongest whiskey
Kentucky can make
That’s a recipe to put a vagabond
On his hands and knees
I watched it all up close,
I knew him more than most
I saw a side of him he never showed
Full of sympathy for a world that
Wouldn’t let him be

That’s the man he was,
Have you heard enough?

[Chorus]
What a shame, what a shame,
To judge a life that you can’t change
The choir sings, the church bells ring
So, won’t you give this man his wings?
What a shame to have to beg you to
See we’re not all the same
What a shame

There’s a hard life for every silver spoon
There’s a touch of grey for every shade
Of blue
That’s the way that I see life
If there was nothing wrong,
Then there’d be nothing right
And for this working man they say could
Barely stand
There’s gotta be a better place to land
Some kind of remedy for a world that
Wouldn’t let him be

That’s the man he was,
Have you heard enough?

[Chorus]
What a shame, what a shame,
To judge a life that you can’t change
The choir sings, the church bells ring
So, won’t you give this man his wings?
What a shame to have to beg you to
See we’re not all the same
What a shame

God forgive the hands that laid you down
They never knew how much a broken heart can break the sound and change the season
Now the leaves are falling faster,
Happily ever after
You gave me hope through your endeavors
And now you will live forever

[Chorus]
What a shame, what a shame,
To judge a life that you can’t change
The choir sings, the church bells ring
So, won’t you give this man his wings?
What a shame to have to beg you to
See we’re not all the same
What a shame, what a shame
‘Cause we’re not all the same
What a shame, what a shame
‘Cause we’re not all the same

I think that’s all.  Have a great weekend, Xanga!
